CLEVEDON FARMERS’ FESTIVAL.

13th ANNUAL SHOW. HUGE SUCCESS. A RECORD EXHIBITION'. • The Clevedon A. & P. Society's 13th nnuai show .took place at Clevecltai n Saturday. The attendance was ar »e> ,in fact it reached last year’s ecord, in spite of numerous counter ittractfans including the Franklin ‘aces arid the monster athletic meetng in Auckland. Visitors were prelent from Auckland, Pukekche, and ill parts of the Manukau and Frankin Counties. At 12 30 p.m. a heavy lownpour was experienced, which asted upwards of half ,an hour, and ioubt this prevented many people reading adjacent to Clevedon from ittending. However, the wet cloud >assed, and Old Sol’s rays shone out during the remainder of the afternoon. The entries received constitute a record, 100 more being received as compared with the record established last year. Apart from the increase in entries, the quality of the stock exhibited shewed marked improvement on that previously exhibited at Clevedon. Quite a number of well-known show entbusisals gave it as their opinion that the quality of the stock general!/ was equally as good as that shown at the last Auckland Show. This year exhibitors seemed ,to take a greater interest in getting their animals ready for show purposes, ,but still there are a numtier who could put mere time on thier animals to fit them for the show ring. The hack classes attracted good competition, there bemg some firstclass hacks. Miss Litchfield’s ' bay mare Mavourneen, a beautiful animal, obtained the prize for the ebampionpi'on hack. There were others equa» to championship honours, and Indeed the judge, Mr, R, A. Hinton, had a difficult problem'to select the champion. The hungers were a fine lot of horses, some splendid leaping being witnessed. \ The champion ribbon was annxed bv Mr Roy M. Furness’ bay mare Dolly, ridden by Mr J. V. Patten. The cattle sections were all well filled," there being some keen competition, and some really high-class V Leasts* Thwhbep classes, although fairly filled, did not attract n great many exhibits. The judge commented favourably on the two-year-old Romney xam owned by Mr A. D|. Beh, staging that he was exceptionally good, dhe Romenys or- the wlc’e we>-e very good, and the strongest class. & The show was a huce success from every point of view. The committee, with Mr D. M. Bryan, as secretary, bad arrangements complete, and is deserving of a word of praise for the manner in which the show was conducted. Events were got off well to time, with the result that the day’s events were completed shortly after 4 o’clock.
