THE NEW DISTRICT RAILWAY.
THE PROJECTED TIME-TABLE. The branch railway line from Paerata to Waiuku, which was formally opened by the Prime Minister on Thursday, is not yet quite completed, and will remain in the hands of the Public Works Department for the next five or six weeks before being handed over to the Railway Department. As soon as that is done the train service will run as follows:—•
DAILY. East -—Waiuku dep. 6.20 a.m., Paerata arr. 7.20 a.m.
■West'.—Paerata dep. 9.5 a.m., Waiuku arr* 10.5 a.m.
In addition, on all weeks days, except Saturdays, there will be an afternoon train as follows :—-
East.— Waiuku dep. 2.25 pan., Paerata arr. 3. 0 p.m., Paerata dep. 3.22 pm- Pukekohe arr. 3.30 p.m. West.—Pukekohe dep. 5 p.m., Paerata arr. 5.10 p.m., Paerata dep. 5.30 p.m., Waiuku arr. 6.20 p.m. Until the Railway Department takes over the line the Public Works Department will run trains to this time-table on Tuesdays and Fridayas. The afternoon train will give the inhabitants of the places along the line the opportunity of spending an hour and a half at Pukekohe on any day of the week except Saturdays. Altogether the promised service is fully up to the anticipations of the most sanguine, and it is to be hoped the traffic on the line will warrant its continuation.
