TUESDAY, JANUARY 3, 1922. LOCAL AND GENERAL.

. To-day’s Times is the first issue after the holidays, and is consequently rather rushed. Quite a budget of matter, will appear on Friday. „

Mr Russell agreed to pay the fee, and a contract was made for the Band to play in, front of the Farmers’ Union store. Mr Russell did not want to be selfish over the matter, and, as Perkins’ store was the only other one to remain open, Mr Terkins was approached 1 to see if he was prepared'-to pay half cost of the Band’s fee, and a programme of musical Items would be rendered in front of his premises as well. This he was prepared to do. On Saturday night (Xmas Eve) the Band rendered a programme of music in the street gratis. \ f
