PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD

BUSINESS MEETING. The Papatoetoee Town Board met Hn Tuesday evening last at the Board's offices Town Hall. There were present: The Chairman (Mr Arthur W. Hall), the clerk (Mr H. Cl Ernest), and Messers J. Watson, S. McCullough, Ai. V. Timewell and J. Death. The Board was mainly occupied ,in considering reports on projected road works which called for attention. Leave of Absence. Mr Death moved, seconded by Mr Timewell, that Messrs John Bryant and Geo. Smith be granted sick leave fob one month.—Carried. Foreman’s Report. The foreman’s report was adopted on the motion of Mr Death, seconded by Mr McCullough. There being no tar boiler available j for hire, ,it was decided, to purchase . one new or second-hand, , and the ; matter was left with the Works Com mittee accordingly. It was also decided to utilise sur plus soil fro,m the Carruth Estate for the formation of a footpath on Station Road between the estate 1 and Wallace Road, and for filling the hollow on the Station Road opposite the raiway goods shed.

Engineer’s Report.

Mr L. G.. P. Spencer forwarded levels of the proposed re-grading of Station Road West, estimated to cost £230. Mr Timewell moved, seconded by Mr McCullough, that the engineer proceed with the calling of tenders for the job.—Carried. lYJulcock’s RoasL Mr F. Mulcock applied for permission to use scoria blinding instead of blue metal screenings on his scoria roads, using a greater ' depth of scoria blinding... The matter was left with the Works Committee to confer with the engineer. Recreation Ground. , It was decided to renew Mr F.inayson’s lease for three months as J from May 15th, .1922, at a reduction of 25 per cent., provided he allowed the Crjcket Club and the Football Club to make use of the ground the respective games demanded. Late Letter DeJivery. It was decided to complaiin to the focal postmastr as to late first daily mail delivery. Accounts to the sum of £528 12s were p assed for payment.
