THE POWER HOUSE.
(To the Editor)
Sir, —The state of the local power house is really worse than' you painted it in the “Timds.” I understand the engineer warned the Council some months ago of what was likely ■to that body pleaded fi-‘ pgncial difficulties. Now they are up against it. To be robbed of light and power is, quite ' serious enougn, but (to have the' water cut off is even piore seribus. If a fire should occur m tne Borough during such a period thg outcome would be fraught with very serious consequence^ 11 ' to. ithiis town. What you say about additional driving power, is quite correct, and a powerful steam: engipe • hould be hired at once to ensure -the' main services being kept in a satisfactory S/tate. Hoping that the Council will deal witfi this matter promptly, and not curtail the services further before the new planjt is erected.—l am, etc RATEPAYER.
