PRESIDENT’S FOURS COMPETITION.

NEARING COMPLETION.

The fourth round of the President’s fours competition was played on Saturday last in splendid , weather. The green was in firstl-class order, but a southerly wind somewhat marred the .day’s pleasure.-The majority of games were keenly contested. The game between H. Bockett and A. F. Bibwn provided a very exciting finish. On the 12th head the score was Bockett 19; Brown 2. The latter’s rink stuck to the bigtask. ahead of them, and on .the'2oth head the score was Bockett Brown 19. The final head proved, to be very exciting. When the skips. went'tipwn to play their bowls. Brown was 2 up. He was undoubtedly feeling the .high pressure; as his first bowl found fthe gutter On the side of the grreen. Seme say he. in military xparlacne, had * the “wind up,” but he- says “no fear.’* Bockett missed drawing 'the shot, and Brown’s last bowl went a Kttlia narrow. Bockett played his - last bowl carefully, but he pushed one of Brown’s wood up, making the latter thvee up on the head, and two up on the game. The final scories were Brown 22, Bockett 20. Brown has thus won his section. Afternoon tea was greatly appreciated.

C. Section.— W: Blake 24, v. H. Gribbte 21; F. Perkins 23, v. A. P. Daysh 21; A. F. Brown 22, v. H. Bockett 20. The fifth and final round will be played on Saturday, and following is how the leading teams in each stand:—■

A. Section. —G. Armstrong, 3 wins and 1 loss ; R. Fitness, 3 wins, 1 loss ; Crisp, 2 wins, 2 losses; Adams, 2 wins, 2 losses. If Armstrong and) Fitness are defeated, and Adams and Crisp win their games, the four teams will be level.

B. Section. —C. Clarke, 4 wins, auc J. Coady 3 wins and 1 loss meet or Saturday, andl if Clarice wins his team wins the section, but if Coadj is victorious a play off will be necessary. C. Section. —F. Brown has won his section. He has had 4 wins. PAIRS COMPETITION. The A and B grade pairs comoetitions are now in progress, and players are urged to get their games completed as early as possible. The competition closes in February.
