ELECTRIC SUPPLY.
t (To ’the Editor.) sijjh,— Since coming into Pukekohe, I £fan reasonably claim thajt I have done a fair share in improving, the appearance of the business portion of the town, ancil I have only done (this at a considerable outlay, and it is certainly “over the odds’’ to have the whole of the result shattered and spoilt by the wretched muddle into which our eleqtric supply has been sdlowed to drift* and sureliy it is about time our Council took some steps towards bringing about a better state of affairs. And as for just •marking time till next February, and most likely longer, with /the present “flash light,” hide and go-seek system, well, to say the least, its grossly absurd, and I cerrtainly think your suggestion as regards hiring the necessary plant for a temporary tide over a good' one, as ft is obvious to anyone thrft the present arrangement is pretty near a “wash-out,” and as Xmas is getting very near, the time is even limited to do that. However, unless there is a very great improve, ment we may all shut our shops at dusk at Xmas, for nobody wants (to walk about, or shop in gloom at that particular time of year. In conclu- ' sion, I would first here say that one important discovery I have made is that I have two meters in my shop which have about solved l the problem of “perpetual motion,” because even if I am getting no light, , they seem to go on just as usual. Perhaps it may only be a disease called “galloping consumption.”—l ametc.-, W. HURLE.
