PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING,
The Papakura Town Board met on Monday, when there were present: Messrs S. Evans (chairman), J. KWilson, J. Beams, D. Wear, P. J. Parker, T. D. Campbell, and the clerk (Mr A L. Cooper). An apology for absence was received from Mr E. D. McLennan, In reply to the Board’s letter, the Minister of Public Works (Hon. J. G. Coates) stated that the Mam Roads Bill was not yet available for circulation, but as soon,, as a copy was available arrangements would be maae foi one to be forwarded.—Received. Sir Fred. Lang forwarded a copy oi a letter he had received from the Acting Minister of Railways (Hon. D. H. Giithrie) with reference to representations made by Mr Evans, chairman of the Board, regarding the continuation of employment for men recently discharged from the railway works at Papakura. He stated thafc the men had been paid off owing to the completion of the work on which they were engaged, and he regretted there was no immediate prospects of utilising their services at the present time. They would however, be considered for further employment as soon as opportunity olfeA' similar letter was received from the General Manager of Railways. It was decided to write and thank Sir Fred. Lang for his actions in the matter,. It was decided to have trees removed on Young’s Road'. The Works Committee was instructed to clear the water-table from the corner of Young’s Road to the Market Reserve. . It was resolved «to commence ax the beginning of December to clean the town' up for Christmas.
