MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING. At fthe last meeting of the Manurewa Town Board there were present : Messrs W. T. Cox, M, D, King, S. Gallagher,, G. Smith, C. H. Lupton, and the clerk. In the absence of the chairman, Mr W. T. Cox was voted to the chair. Weymouth Road Bridge. It was decided to ask the Railway authorities to state the cost of the pioposed traffic bridge over the railway line on Weymouth Road, also the estimated cost if *i footbridge only, at the same place. Bowling Green. On the motion of Messrs King and Smith, it was agreed that ail work and expenditure on the bowling green, croquet lawn and tennis court be suspended for the present.

Road Grants.

Moved by Mr King, and seconded by Mr Lupton, and resolved that the member for the district (Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey) bo reminded of the following facts Last session, £IOO each was voted for Russell, Valley and Weymouth Roads, and a subsidy of £4OO, £ for £, for the Great South Road. None of this money has been received. It was decided to state that the Board would respectfully request that the amounts be re-voted and made available during the current year,, as road work was held up pending receipt of the money.

Hire of Hall.

The following scale of charges was fixed'.'—Sunday services, bv day, with use of piano, 5s ; dances 'till midnight, 10s; all night dances, £l. Extension of Telephone Hours. It was decided to request the Post and Telegraph Department to extend the hours of the Telephone Exchange. Bowling Club.

Mr Smith gave notice that he would! move at next meeting that the clerk write to the Bowling Club asking them to meet the Board to discuss the matter of tenure of that part of the Board’s property to be used by them as a bowling green, with, a'view to them taking it over upon a freehold basis instead oi leasehold.

Unimproved Value.

A* petition containing the signatures of 46 ratepayers to have a poll taken on the question of .adopting the system of rating on tne nmmproved value was presented 1 by Mr Kin o- , who moved that the farther necessary steps in accordance with the Act be [taken. Mr Cox seconded. —Carried. Accounts. Accounts amounting to £BB 13s 9d general account ; and £413 bd lean account, were passed for payment.
