PAPAKURA’S BEAUTY SPOT.

CHISHOLM’S BUSH.

WILL IT BE DESTROYED \

Alt Monday’s meeting of the Papakura Town Board, reference was made to the correspondence appearing in the Press in reference to Chisholm’s bush, better known as Kirk’s Bush, Papakura, by the chairman (MryS. Evans). He said that the' bush was offered to the Board at a very high price, Ite could have ''been acquired by a previous Board at a /.much lower figure. For the benefit of the public, he was of the opinion that it should 1 have been offered at a reasonable price. The one at which it was offered to the Board was about double what was paid for it. If the Board could not do anythig, he thought the Government should be approached to see what it could do,. It was a beautiful piece of bush, and he regretted it was being cufc up for selling purposes. ' The land' in question is situated on the corner of the Great South Road and Beach Road, Papakura. It has been subdivided into 23 level sections in areas from % to 214 acres. Nothing handier could be obtainied, as it is only a few mmutes walk from station, school, etc. It was eventually resolved to communicate with- the Prime Minister and Sir Fredk. Lang, pointing out the position, also that the property would be. sold on November 19)th, and asking if something could not be done to have, it made a reserve.
