QQVKMETVTIONS •4HWHENCED. The President’s Fours Competition, held under the auspices of the Pukekbhe Bowling Club, were commenced op Saffcurdby, in ideal weather.. There, were some: keenly com tested games, and some of the scores were fairly close, but rip the majority of eases there were some runaway,.victories. The closets contest was that between DaVid Rouleiton and AS* C. Tonkin-. . These teams kept very closely together until the last, four hehds, wljten Roulston’s rink forged ahead, and won by a narrow margin. The lesetfs rink did not play up to form. When they reach top form they should be hard to dispose of. 1 There was a record attendance of members. Twenty rinks participated in the fours match, which meant 80 players, but .apart from these, several* members indulged in a “roll up.” Afternoon tea was duly appreciated.

The competitions will be continued next Saturday.
PAIRS COMPETITION. Nominations for the champion pairs and B grade pairs close on Saturday, November 5 th. Names of intending competing pairs should be placed on the notice beard. OPEN TOURNAMENT, The club’s open tournament will take place on November 10th; 11th and 12th. Nominations close on Thursday, November 3rd, with Mr G. G. Littlejohn (secretary). MEMBERSHIP. The club’s membership is gradually increasing, and the number is U o ™' near 120., This mark should be reached very shortly. THE GREENS. In spite of' the gruelling the old green had during the Labour Day tournament, it has improved considerably, and at the present time plays a 3 well, if not better, than evef it has done. The new green was used orT £>aturclav last,, and played fairiy well, although it is still a trifle heavy. By Christmas it, should be. in tip-top nick. The caretaker (Mr J. H. Waters) is leaving no stone unturned to get it into excellent order. Under his capable hand it should not lack on The score of supervision. NEW PAVILION. In the near future the club intends erecting an up-to-date two storied brick pavilion. This is needed, and when completed the Pukekohe Bowling green and appointments should rank as second to none in the Dominion.
