Hall, (chairman), occupied: the ihairl There were also present: Mr Ernest 1 (town clerk), and Messrs Vlf Ti.mewell, J. Death, Sam Mcluliough, G. Smith and J. Watson., Mr J. Bryant was absent on sick leaved The Board was engaged entirely in considering important road works, which were brought under its notice by the' consulting 1 engineer and the foreman. " Garruth Estate Reading. Tfce. engineer wrote advising his inability to procure blue metal chips for blinding, and suggested a scoria rubble, wihch he considered would make a good job. The committee had accepted his advice. The report was received,. ... ' j Foreman’s Report. The foreman presented his report of Work done, and supplied) the followi'nig lengths of footpaths requir ing • Erring —Kolmar Road', 25% chains. Rangitoto Road, 18% chains, Carruth Road 20 chains, Great South Road, 24 chains, This made up a total of 88 chains requiring 88 yards of shell sand and 88 barrels of tar. 'Sufficient shell had come to band. The - report was adopted. . ; It'was decided to order 45 barrels of tat- jfco commence -the work, and to apply to the Manukau County Council for the hire of their ttar sprayer, and also to the Otahuhu Borough Boroiigh Council for their tar boiler, and to obtain details of suitable hand rollers. / Cost of Tarring and Re-formation 1 . The foreman was instructed to engage an extra workman when the tarring work was commenced, and the Works Committed estimated that tarring of to a widish of 4 feet would require an expenditure of £3OO, and. they advised the grading and reformation of Station Road from the Railway bridge to Portage Road, to cost about £500,. _ Mr Death moved, seconded by Mr .Timewell, thajt the engineer be instruqted to prepare specifications and tell tenders for the Station Road jpb.-T>arried. Piping Djrain. "t Application! was received from Mr R. Rutledge for* continuation of P'P" ih« the ditch adjoining the Carruth Eslate, on Station Road. It was constudied that, ithe whole of the ditch Would require piping in the near future. and it was decided to pipe the ditch to the end of Mr Rutledge s section, provided the contiguous owners paid for half the cost of the to the amount of £154 7s Jfcr*were passed for payment.
