GRAHAM'S SUBDIVISION.
QUESTION OF A THROUGH
ROAD.
The plans in connection with the proposed subdivision of J. J. Graham’s estate were before the Borough Council again on Monday night, but did not meet with the approval of the Council, in so far as the road through the property was concerned. It was the opinion of the majority cf the Councillors, and the Mayor that a through road from Roujston Avenue to come out near the Premier Hall, on Manukau Road, was necessary. The Councij was not warranted in doing anything detrimental to the ratepayers of future years,; and in the matter of town planning the road should go straight through, _Crs Kennelily and Patterson held a different view, arid; maintained the, proposal of the trustees to bring the road out near the Police Station was, satisfactory. The discussion was on lines similar to that which occurred at a previous meeting of the Council: Eventually Cr Hamilton .moved, and Cr Armstrong seconded, that the plan be not approved in its present form, and that it be a suggestion to the ■solicitors that a conference of the Borough Council, trustees of Graham’s estate and Messrs Rbuiston Bros., Be convened with a view of coming to a suitable arrangement. The motion was carried. An amendment by Cr Patterson, seconded by Cr Kennedy, that the trustees of the estate be approached to see if they would be willing to take the route of the road/ In a line from Roulston Avenue to Manukau Road, , was lost.
