MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

THURSDAY S SITTING.
Mrs S. Govan, of Tuakau, was charged with allowing three head of cattle to wander on ,the Harrisville Road, Tuakau, on September 27th, without any person being in. charge thereof, contrary to the Tuakau Town Board by-laws. Defendant pleaded not guilty; Constable Brady said that on the date in question he found three head of cattle on the Harrisville Road belonging to defendaht. He had previously warned her about allow ng. hci- cattle to wander on the roads. He took the cattle to defendant’s place, and they were tlaken charge of bv a little boy. Defendant said that the cattle were in charge of her. little boy, who was watching them on the road. The boy ran in to the house to get some lunch, and during his absence the constable came along and found the cattle, which he drove into her paddock. 0
Sergqant Cowan said the case was brought as an example, and he did not press for a heavy penalty, A nominal fine of 5s and 7s Court costs was imposed.
