PATUMAHOE FOOTBALLERS' BALL.
A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION.
The Patumahoe Football Club’s plain and fancy dress ball took place in the Patumahoe Hall on Wednesday night and was a success. The threat-* ening climatic conditions and counter attractions no doubt affected the at-, tendance, which was fair, nevertheless, a most! enjoyable time was spent. The Patumahoe Club, which is only in its infancy, having been formed th.:s year, has proved jthat among its ranks are some of the best of sports. It was with difficulty at times to muster senior and junior fifteens to fulfil their engagements, but (the leading members of the club used their influence and the teams sometimes very weak were always ready for a game. Right from the commencement of the F R.U. competitions this newly-form-ed elub was up against odds, but grit and determination was imbued in the players, and at the close of the sqasen Patumahoe seniors were a very hard nut to crack. Although they did net win a game they were knocking at (the door on several occasions. They have the satisfaction of having played a drawn game with Pukekohe, winners of the competition, and were defeated by Onewhero, the runners’ up, by two points, while they also drewr with Bomhiay, a hard team < to defeat. These performances speak for themselves, and reveal the fact that thero is some good material in the club. As a matter of fact, Patumahoe has, in the Wison Bros., (two of’the best forwards in Franklin. The club next year should be a thorn in the side of the teams that defeated them this year. They are to be congratulated on their meritorious performances.
