TUESDAY, OCTOBER 4, 1921. THE CHIEF RETURNS.
The people of Franklin electorate, no matter what their pet political oipinions may be, will join in congratulating Mr Massey upon his successful representation of this country abroad, and his safe return to our shores. The Right Hon. W. F. Massey, member for Franklin and Prime Minister of the Dominion, acquitted himself , well in the Councils vf the Empire recently held in London. He has proved once again that he is a statesman of more than ordinary calibre, and even his political opponents, if they are just, must admit that no one in the Dominion could have more ably represented this country at the recent Imperial Conferences. He has come back to find many difficult
problems ooming large on the political horizon. For instance, there is the vexed aueston of the falling railway revenue, and on the other hand the clamour for new lines. The scheme of retrenchment in the interests of economy is another phase which has to be faced. Truly, the office of Prime Minister of this country is far from being a sinecure,, and only a man of robust constitution could long maintain the strain. Speaking broadly, the people of this Dominion have been fortunate in securing the man they have for their political chief. The electors of Frankin generally will join with us in congratulating him upon his return to the Domininon.
“We nothing extenuate, nor aught set down in malice.”
