Early potatoes are already being dug on Pukekohe Hill, and lOd per lb. is being paid for them in Wellington.

The Loyal; Pukekohe Lodge, fvT.TJ., 1.0.Q.F., announce a dance to be held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Saturday, September 24. A good time is promised all who 'attend.

Dancing enthusiasts should note that the Tuakau Tennis Club’s annual plain and fancy dress ball will _ be held in the Tuakau Hall on Friday nex, September 23. The dance music will be supplied by Morrow’s orchestra.

Members of ihe Mauku Atheltic Club are reminded that the annual meeting of the club will be held in the Pa/tumahoe Hall on Saturday next, at S p.m. As business of much importance is to be discussed a full attendance is requested.

At a meeting of the Mauku branch of the Farmers’ Union, held last evening, the following resolution was passed in regal’d to ,the proposed electrical scheme: “That Mr McEwen, of the Waiuku Electric Company, be invited to address the ratepayers of Mauku and Patumahoe on the proposed supply of electric energy.”

A pleasant little function took place in Parker’s barn, Pukekohe West recently, when the residents assembled to bid farewell to Mrs M. Box, who is leaving the district. On behalf of her numerous friends, Mr D. Shaw presented Mrs Box with a beautiful silver tea pot as a mark of the esteem in which she was held. Mr J. Malone responded on behalf of the recipient. Dancing, musical and vocal items brought a successful; function to a close.
