A deputation from Glenbrook, consisting of Messrs Haycock, Wymer and Saunders, urged that something De done to the road leading ,roniii Ti corner to Gienbrook Hall, ’whicr W&s in a very bad condition. It was pointed out that during the winter Glenbrook people had to proceed via Waiuku to get to Pukekohe. _ The deputation was of opinion that under the loan proposals there was 8 miles of metalling to be done, and they thought if a poll was taken there would be very iittle chance of it beins carried. It was a distance, of o& chains to the station. Even if the r )0 >l was carried, there was little possibility of raising the money to do tne work. They thought the formation work on the piece of road in question could be paid tor out ot rates. There was no piece of roau in more need of repairs than this, and it was nothing less than an aDSurdity that the work was not done years a ~The chairman said the Council was anxious to help the Glenbrook people. He realised the road was ban. He fauovrde nnhj ntuoi sh-u ntUi. /t He favoured one comprehensive, scheme to link up the whole distnc --It. was eventually resolved that the engineer furnish an estimate ot -ne cost of the earthwork, Glenbrook -o Ti Ti, at next meeting, and that t.ie clerk prepare s special roll and wince ill! necessary steps to have a poll J taken on Glenbrook loan proposals as I soon as possible. . | During the discussion it was ?>o.rijed out that it would be advisable to jpo ahead with the comprehensive ! scheme. When the’ road was comIpieted the Puni end would naturally j u ,;e the load to get manure, etc., m ifiom the Waiuku railway, and it was 'only a fair, thing that they should j contribute towards the cost oi the work. , The chairman remarked that the
Council was out to do the best it could for the ratepayers, and would like to give them all a metalled road, lhe only way out was to have the loan carried.
It was reported that as soon as Lrquhart’s road was completed p commencement would be made with the work on Slack’s road, Papakura.
