PUKEKOHE BOWLING CLUB.

(To the Editor.)

Sir.—Having read with much interest the account of the annual meeting of the Pukekohe Bowling. Club, I was struck with the fine spirit and go-a-head policy adopted by its members, and I wish them every success, and I see no reason that in a few years it should not be one of the best greens in the Dominion. I also notice t iTat they are "wanting new members, so I trust they will excuse me offering a suggestion. As there are several Pukekohe bowlers residing in Buckland that go to and fro in their own - conveyances, why not get busy ■amt. get a' dozen new members in Buckland, and arrange with Bert. Leighton to run us all in in his motor lorrie. Say leave Buckland at halfpast one and leave the green at live pan. That would allow those with cows to get home,, and also these with no conveyances of their own to get in and out. Of course Buckland has a site secured for a green, but I consider that there are not enough bowlers in Buckland to run one of their own. Of course I am not a bowler, although I have looked after a green ; but by joining Pukekohe they would be making an already strong club still stronger. Another reason why it would be better for Buckland to join Pukekohe is that it creates better fellowship, and there is less likelihood of narrowmindedness creeping in. If members would only learn to respect other’s opinions, whether he drinks whisky or sucks ice, so long as he pays his subs and conducts himself as .a bowler should, and do their fair share towards improving their green, things would go along more pleasant, and the green would look far more beautiful. Trusting some more able pen will take this subject up and win for us a roll-up once a week. —I am, CU-: MOREPORK.
