ONEWHERO HALL.

(To the Editor.) S;r, —I' have read with much interest ‘‘Don Quixote’s” Stray Notes, and a later letter in your issue of August 16th by “Aliens” re the proposed Onewhero Hall, and personally T disagree with “Aliens” when lie says “Don Quixote’s” scheme is too elab'orate for Qnewhero's needs. It seems to me that if a community of people can run two halls of fair dimensions that the same community could run one hall on a much more elaboi*ate scale. I am of poinion that alt public buildings should show sufficient beauty of architecture and general surroundings, ample rooms and antirooms and a graceful and artistic finish .which will give every citizen in that community a feeling of pride in the possession of such a building. Further, there is nothing so potent to banish opposition and friction in a matter like this as the knowledge that the new. building is worthy of the combined effort of the whole district. Re; (the formation of a Progressive League, I am heartily, in concurrence, but I would suggest that every care be taken to elect progressive, and only progressive, members to form such a body. There is no nobler work that any body of lively citizens could perform! than to sit in such a council, and no limit to the good .influence which ithey might exert in grappling with the hard* and knotty problems which confront every rising- town. Onewhero-might excel, could excel, and will excel with the right men forming a strong Progressive League. You haw the men, then put them in theift places and set them to work. ,

That Onewhero might excfl It needs no sage to tel!. With every man on progress bent, You’ll make the township excellent

And when you's built two halls in one, \ You’ll look with pride on what you've done. -

A footpath next you’re sure to get

And many thing's not thought of yet

I am. etc., PROGRESSIVE
