BOROUGH COUNCIL.
ORDINARY RSEETBEm The ordinary meeting' of the Pukelcohe Borough Council was held on Monday, ’ July'’ 18, when there were present: The M%yor (Mr John RoutIvjg Crs. T. Brownlee, Jas Kennedy, F. Ju Morrow, J. Patterson, It. H. McGough, the clerk (Mr J, F. Deane) and the foreman (Mr S Clews). Apologies for absence were received from Crs. G. H. Armstrong, A. P. Daysh and D. R. Hamilton. ■.) ' / k Edinburgh Street Footpath. Messrs C Copper, W. F. McClintock, A. C. Gill and H. J. Lodge drew tip Council’s attention to the state of the footpath oh the eastern side of Edinburgh - Street, from Mr Hurle’s corner to Mr Cooper’s residence. They urged that' the footpath be tarred and sanded. —Referred to the Works Committee, with power to act. West Road Path. The residents of the north side of West Road, between Messrs H. Wild’s and V. Morris’ residences, requested 'the footpath be attended to. They asked that shingle or metal be spread, as' the path yeas almost impassable.—Referred to the Works Committee, with power to act. . i, / , / 1 Another Crossing RequiyecS. Messrs John W- Andrew and Son applied for a fifth crossing into the garage at the corner of Hall Street and Roulston’s Avenue. —Application granted, on condition the applicants defrayed cost. . ! ■ ' Eleef iricaS Report. The Electrical and Waterworks Committee reported as follows : During the past week arrangement’s were made for the Committee to meet, but owing to the serious breakdown at the power house, the engineer was unable to spare the time to attend a meeting, consequently the committee was unable to consider the various matters, referred to in the report.
The connections in Totara Avenue and Hall Street (upper) have been completed, and it is anticipated that extensions in Edinburgh, Nelson, and Dublin Streets, would be completed shortly. . ■,
With reference to water connections to Messrs Rowe and Fausett’s properties, these would probably- be completed this week,! The work of constructing the roof at the power house was proceeding satisfactorily. The engineer reports that- the indent wire was now on the -wharf at Auckland and was expected here at any time. —The report was adopted.
Finance.
The pay sheet, amounting to 3s 7d, was submitted and passed for pavmept. The d4bit balance of the district fund account was shown at £SBS7 17s lid.
