TUAKAU R.S. BALL.

A RECORD SUCCESS. Undoubtedly the most successful ball ever held at Tuakau took place in the Tuakau Hall on Friday last, under the auspices of the Tuakau Returned Soldiers. A strong committee, with Messrs C. A. Ryder and J. Lonergan as secretaries, worked assiduously to make the function unsuccess, and from opinions expressed it was from every 'point of view.' There was a large attendance, including representatives from Onewhero, Pukekaw , Whangarata, Pokeno, Buckland, Pukekohe Patumahoe and the surrounding districts, and the hall proved too small, the accommodation being taxed to the utmost capacity., The floor was in excellent condition while the interior of the building was gorgeously decorated with greenery and bunting, the whole presenting an attractive spectacle. The decorations and the floor preparation ' entailed considerable work, but the promoters rose to the occasion to a man, and had all arrangements complete in every detail.. The supper was delicious, and was prepared by a band of willing lady helpers, who spared neither time nor snort to supply one of the wants of ball patrons. The supper was set out on two large tables in marquee erected outside of the hall. This was aise-. beautifully decorated with greenery and f.c-weis, while the tables themselves were a distinct credit to the l fair sex helpers. The .auxes assisted in no- small measure to the success of the function and. the ’ returned mr-r. desire to tonerr tne- r smeerese thi-gks for tire ussistar.ee rendered. • A spk-udtu effect was given to the hall decorations by the dresses worn by men tire fair ssk, some o'i the gowns being exquisite.
