A true story of an incident which happened .in Los Angeles at the Peace streets of the town were gaily decorated with verdure and bunting, and a giant pi’ocsssion was organised by the local powers that be. It consisted of several thousand Yankee “dough boys” in training for the more strenuous days of real war, These bore at their head a huge banner with the inscription : “We won the war.” Cheers and applause from the spectators lining the route of the procession. At the end of the entire line came a small compact knot, consisting of five British bluejackets, two Australinas, one Canadian Highlander, and three British Tommies, bearing a small pennant with the modest inscription, “We helped.’
