PAERATA. i A very pleasant and successful evening was neld in the form of a euchre party under the auspices of th<~ Paerata Social Committee on Saturday last. The committee were again favoured by fine weather and residents from far and near were present to appreciate the committee s efforts. It is very gratifying to the committee to see the large attendance, which proves conclusively that this sort of entertainment is becoming quite popular. There were many new faces present on Saturday night and the committee hope to see them all present the next tim6 and bring their friends with them. After several very keen games had been played the ladies’ prize was won by Mrs S. Yates and the gentleman’s prize by Mr W. Schlaepfer. A sumptuous supper was then partaken of to which everybody present did full justice, Mr. Jamieson (chairman) then presented the respective winners with their prizes amidst applause, after which the tables were dismantled and an impromptu dance (to the music of a gramaphone) terminated a very pleasant evening.
