THE TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

Published in another column is the text of a report on the Technical School, which is being submitted to the Franklin County Council. This report gives serious food for reflection. It shows that there is a school which, though only opened last February, and expected to be large enough for some years, has become overcrowded in six months.. This proves many things, such as teh education given at the school must be on the right lines ; that more people in the district are taking advantage cf the higher educational facilities offered for their children ; that the district itself is expanding and growing apace. Franklin' is indeed proud of this fine institution, but it will not be doing its duty towards it unless it assists in having the extra class-rooms added, which are The school, as yet, has not had the opportunity to demonstrate what it can do in the way of manual training, but arrangements are already in hand, for the serious consideration of the erection of workshops. But the great point readers should remember is this: Unless additional accommodation is provided before next year opens, numbers of scholars will have to be turned away. This would be a serious matter for Franklin in more ways than one. We urge, therefore, that :11 will carefully read the published report and consider how they = t can assist this very necessary institution to keep pace with the rapidly growing interests of Franklin.
