fortnightly sheeting. * The usual fortnightly meeting of the Manurewa Town Board was helu on July 4, when Mr T. J. Corin presided. ©.Other members present were, Messrs M. D. King, C. H. . Lupton, G. - ! Smith, I>. Gallagher and the acting town clerk (Mr Johnston). Absent, Mr Cox. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. It was decided, on the motion of the ehaiarman, that Mr R. D. John- ' s ton act as town clerk in Mr Kay’s absence. Garden Plot. ' • * t . Mr Lupton moved that steps be taken to form a garden plot -it the junction of Seiwyn and Lupton Roads. This was seconded by Mr Gallagher and was carried unanimously. '• v 1 Overdue Rates. On the motion of Mr King, seconded by Mr Smith, it was carried that all overdue rates be placed in the hands of the solicitors. Tablet for Post Office. Mr King moved that the consent of the Postal Department be obtained for placing a suitable tablet on the Manurewa post office commemorative of its opening Jby the Hon. J. G. Coates, Postmaster-General. Seconed by Mr Gallagher and carried unanimosly. Loans <snd Grants. Mr King moved that the chairman visit Wellington at once re-the matter of loans and grants and »}so to explain the Arapuni electric scheme. M> Gallagher seconded. Carried. Arapuni Electric Scheme. Pegler’s corner to White’s Road; White’s Road footpath.has been reformed and water tables cleared out and tarred from Massey Road to railway gtaes. Grams Road—The water tables has been cleaned put as far as the boundary. South- Road.—ln second gully has been lengthened about 10ft. Alfriston Road.—Water tables and 1 channels have been cleared out. The L culvert and gully next to Mr Butteryworkth’s have broken through at'the ,inlet owing to slip on side of g&Hy, and will require several loads of soil. Correspondence. Mr Wells wrote asking the Board if ? while they were making Russell Rdad. they they would re-make the road to his property, the work to foe charged to- him.—lt was decided that the matter be referred to the Board’s engineer. In reply' -to a letter from the Board re the naming of a street to Anzac, the Minister of Internal Affairs stated that the question had been carefully looked into and it is considered not desirable to permit the use of the word, so therefore the application could not be acceded to. The matter was held over till next meeting of the Board. Several other letters of minor importance were read and considered. Personal. Mr H. Kay, clerk of the Manurewa j Town Board, is shortly to undergo an i operation and will be away from j bis work for some two months. Mr , R. T>.
