The Russell trophy competition will be played over the Pukekohe golf course on Saturday next as a medal match,, The following is the draw, for partners:— Men: Townsend plays -Johns, Pattle plays Duncan, Brosnahan plays Waters, Eay]y plays Dr. McSweeney, Socket! plays Chapman, Fear plays Higginson, Mason plays Middlemiss, Clarke plays D. Roulston, Bonner plays Jones, Brown plays Stuart, Short plays Day, Ayson plays Hankin, Jas. Roulston plays J. Clarke. Ladies: Miss Wily plays Miss Mackenzie, Miss Clarke plays Miss Duncan, Mrs Johns plays Mrs ( Fear, Mrs. Motion plays Mrs Jones, Mrs Rhodes plays Mrs Roulston, Mrs Pattle plays Mrs Bonner, Miss Harty plays Miss Hawke, Miss Allan plays Mrs Abbott, •Mrs Campbell. CAPTAIN’S PRIZE TOURNEY.

MEDAL COMPETITION,

The whether conditions were far from perfect when members of the Auckland Golf Club played the fifth round in the competitions for the captaain’s prize tourney at the Middlemore dinks, Mangere, on Saturday. However) despite the hailtliefipS' -imposed by the elements, mahy of the contestants returned good cards. Details of the play are as follows: l>r. F. Macky (handicap 12) beat E. Friedlander (12) 5 up and 3 to play, R. Rainger (scr) beat H. Horton (5) 2 up, Dr J„ F. Brown (10) beat A. McCosh Clark (8) 4 up and 3 to play, E. (X Hales (9) beat C. W- Gillies (20) 2 up, H. T. Merritt (19) beat A. Waller (4) 2 up and 1 to play, P. H. Upton (18) beat F. W. Browning (11) 4 up and 3 to play. A medal competition was also played on Saturday afternoon. The best cards returned were as follows: P. H. Upton, 87 grass, 16 handicap--71 net; Dr. F., Macky, 86, 12—74; T. G. Kissling, S 7, 12—75; J« L. RBloomfield, 91, ,14—77; E. J. Richardson., 96, 18—78; F. W. Browning, 89, 11 Dr. Buck, 90, 12—78; F., Binney, 84, 6—78; C. Archer, 95, 16—79. To-morrow* a men’s medal foursome will be decided for which competitors may choose their own partners and opponents.
