EDUCATING THE ORPHANS.
BISHOP AVER ILL SPEAKS. Bishop Averill,,m referring to the action of the Education Board in refusing to take over the school at the Orphan Home and use it as a State school, as which it could be carried oh more \ economically and efficiently than under the administration of the Trust Board, congratulated the Board, at its annual meeting held recently, oh its action in allowing'the elder children to attend the State school in the Papatoetoe township, “I am very sorry,” said the Bishop, “that the Government has not seen fit to accede to the just request that it should look after the education of the younger children in the school which the Trust Board has provided for them, and I hope the department may ytet be induced to reconsider its decision.” The further consideration that the accommodation in the Papatoetoe school will not meet tVie requirements for many years to come at the present rate of growth of the district also forces itself upon 'one’s attention.”
