TUESDAY, JUNE 28, 1921. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
“We nothing Extenuate, nor aught set dowp in malice.”
It is a deplorable fact that the business men of Pukekohe in the main, do not take the interest that they should in the local Chamber of Commerck Why business people will stay blind to their own interests passes comprehension, but it is so. Is it because they do not desire to see the town progress and become possessed of facilities held by other smaller towns, or is it simply a form of tired feeling and a dull brain. The Chamber ■ meets once a month and the same little coterie gather regularly, : handicapped because of the lack of support which should foe accorded them. A Chamber of Commerce can be a power in a community like Pukekohe, but the business men of the town will have to wake up and make things move before it is. This feeling of indifference, this moral feebleness and spirit of procrastination will have to be shaken off before Pukekohe’s Chamber can reach the stage where > its best efforts can be felt. May we express the earnest desire to see every business man of the town an active, attending and interested member of the Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce from this on.
