MANUKAU COUNTY COUNCIL.
ORDINARY {MEETING
The ordinary monthly meeting- of the Manukau County Council was held on Tuesday when there were present: Crs. A. D. Bell (chairman), S. W. House, F. M. Waters, J. M. Davies, A. E. Hattaway, S. A. Browne, F Granger* the clerk Mr Edgar Ashcroft) and the engineer (Mr W. J. Lopdell). Government Grants. The Public Works Department advised that Howick main road Government grant 3 of £IOO and Whitford Homestead bridge grant of £2OO had been paid into the Council's account at the bank.—Received. Iflanurewa High Level Bridge. The Manurewa To.wn Board wrote asking the Council to expedite the raising of the Manurewaoverhead bridge loan of £2ooo.—The clerk’s action in replying that the money was not available was endorsed.
Finance Act.
The Minister of Internal Affairs forwarded an extract from the Finance Act, 1921, relative loa rate of interest to be paid by local bodies on loans, and allowing the rate to be increased on application beingmade for the precedent consent of the ■ Governor- General in Council.— Received. A Complaint. Mr H. Woodcock, Mangere/ complained of the storm water at'the crner of Mountain ’and Wafmsley Roads flooding his N - property.—Engineer to attend to. 4 Howick ftlain Road. - Mr A. Bell, Pakuranga, wrote with reference to the Howick main road, which was top-dressed with restar two years ago s and which was in need of attention. He also referred to the concrete, decking of , the Panmure ! bridge, which was ' becoming very | worn and unless attended to would j allow the water to get into the steel, j' —Left to engineer and Car Hattaway . to inspect with power to act, | Pound Not For Sale. ■ Mr W. G. Lynn, Papatoetoe, asked if the Council would dispose of the . old pound on the reserve occupied by I Mr O’Hara in Papatoetoe riding.—The ' clerk, on the authority of C-r Waters, i replied that the pound was not for ' sale as it was intended to use it.— i Their action in the matter' was en--1 dorsed. " \ Road to Wlri Station* The district engineer of the New Zealand Railways stated that instructions had been given for the roadway at Wiri station to be levelled.— Received. ] Ranger’s Report. i The county ranger reported having ,impounded 232 head of cattle during May.—Received. A Clevedon flatter, I The Clevedon branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union requested that when a special rating area was proposed the Council notify as! the ratepayers in the area of their inclusion before it reaches the advertising stages—The request is to be complied with. > j New- Road to Clevedon. * The Takanini Welfare League requested an indication as to what the actual position was concerning the formation of a new road to Clevedon from Takanini. They pointed out that .the matter was of great importance to the, district. —Left to Riding member to attend to.
On behalf of the Clevedon 3 cream suppliers, the secretary of the NiZ. Co-Op. Dairy Co. (ClevedonbranchJ requested that metal be placed on the road between Ardmore and Alfriston- —It was decided to reply stating the work would be put in hand during the coming season'.
Interest Increased.
The Bank of New Zealand advised the increase -of interest to 7 per cent, on overdrafts. —Received.
