LADIES’ REST ROOM.
MATTER TO BE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERED.
The advisability of having a ladies’
rest room erected at some convenient place in Pukekohe has been sugf gested more than once, but beyond the yfaet of a mere suggestion nothing of a definite nature w- < done
until the last meeting of the Bor- ' ough Council, when the Mayor (Mr J. Routly) introduced the question, and it was decided to communicate with the Cambridge Borough Council which body has a rest room erected, for information on the matter. At last night’s meeting of the Council a letter was received from the Cambridge body stating that a rest room was erected and opened
on. March 1, 1921, and paid for out a j'oan of £3OO, which amount was supplemented by a contribution of £75 from the Cambridge branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. The amounts were sufficient to meet all expenditure on-the building and furnishing. It was possible a copy of the plans and specifications, to give, an idea of the nature of the building and equipment, could be obtained from the architects in Hamilton. Thie Town Clerk (Mr J., F. Deane) said he had written for the particulars, but had not yet received a reply.
The letter was received, and the Cambridge clerk is to be thanked for supplying information. It was de-
cided to again write asking for a
rough sketch Of the building and particulars relative to accommodation.
The Mayor stated that he intended to take the matter in hand seriously at an early date, probably at the next ordinary meeting of the. Council, when, the question is to be discussed. The rest room, he added, would be erected by voluntary contributions.
