PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.

LAST RIQNCA.Y'S MEETING, The-ordinary meeting .of the Papakura Town Board was held on Monday when there were present Messrs S. Evans (chairman), T. D. Campbell, Parker, Weir, J. Beams, E. D, McLennan, and the clerk (Mr A. L. Cooper). Rate of Interest Increased, The Bank of New Zealand advised that the rate of interest on overdraft on ordinary current account would be increased to 7 per cent.- —Received. A member remarked : “ You were lucky it did not come sooner/’ Overdraft Raised'. The bank also advised that the Beard's overdraft had been increased to £I3OO. This is an increase of £3OO on the previous limit, —-It was decided to thank the bank for its action. Subsidy on Park. In reply to the Board's application for the £SOO promised as a subsidy for the park, the Commissioner of Crown Lands stated that the matter had been referred to Wellington and as soon as he received a reply he would advise the Board.—Received. Engineer’s Report The engineers (Messrs Lockie Gannon and Worley) reported that good progress was being made with the water reticulation .scheme in spite of the wet weather. Pipes had been laid in East Street from Union Street to Cole's Crescent and in Cole’s Crescent making a total of 3720 ft. Galvanised wrought iron pipes were laid in Opaheke Road, from Liverpool Street to the town boundary, in two streets running from Onslow Road to Marne road, a portion of Smith’s Avenue to Lynch’s residence, and Marne Road north of Onslow Road, a total of 3498 ft. Cast-iron pipes were also laid in Great South Road for a distance of 620 ft, and 30 house connections were laid using 842 ft of %in piping, The report added that the whole work was proceeding most satisfactorily. The report was received. Finance. Accounts amounting to £433 3s IKd general account, £290 19s Blad road loan account and £1325 15s 7)4d water loan account were passed for payment.
