FINE SPORT AT WANG ERE. LADY JELLJCOE TAKES PART. On Saturday last the meet of the pr-.kuranga Hunt Club tbok place at the Mangere ground. Her’ Excellency, Viscountess Jetlicoe.. and 'a party ficni the Government House, motorea out and were present at the meet., Followers of the hounds who took part in Saturday's sports. were gratified tc see Her Ladyship well again and riding her favourite hunter PunLb. The Hon. Nora Jellicoe-was carried by the pony Calc. Notable among those present were: The Misses Gorrie. J. Beale, Hankin, Broclie,. Elliott, Weston, Captains A. R. W. Curtis and R. E. Southey. Messrs J. Speedy, B. Myers, B. H. Bishop, H. Millington,. J. Buchanan, 0. Phillips, R. D. Neal and Master D. ! Speedy. <• Hounds on the Scent The hounds were let go along vVestr.yy Road, being thrown off into Mr Speedy's farm, and they- worked across several paddocks bounded by gorse 'hedges and wire fences which had been prepared with stout sapMings, enabling the horses to negotiate the fences Without any difficulty, kfere a hare was s=et up, running across 'Mr Speedy's .'land and over the road into Mr Montgomerie's, where hounds checked, " ancl were shortly brought back to Mr Speedy s. Another hare was set up and was hunted on to Mr Cox's farm, where, after circling twice round the homestead, was run to ground. Further casts were made with the hounds on' Mr Cox's property, and one horseman made a valiant but futile attempt to turn a hare into more open country. Her Excellency and party now departed to fill an engagement for the afternoon.

The Concluding Runs.

Hounds and followers then made across to Mr H..T. Batty's property near the end of Westney. Road, and there the hounds were thrown off in the \ front paddock from which they worked their way down towards the beach where a hare was put up, but was lost after a short chase in some swamp land. Hounds were then taken across to Mr Biekerton Fisher's .farm where a beautiful stretch of country jj opened out, As scent appeared to fail and the afternoon was closing in the hounds were got together to. be taken to the kennels. A hearty invitation was extended by Mr and - Mps Bickerton-Fisher to members of the hunt and friends to partake of afternoon tea. and an adjournment was made to the homestead where many followers and friends did justice to the good things provided and spent a lively and enjoyable time. Owing to the absence of the master. Mr H.* Bullock-Webster, the arrangements for the day devolved upon the depu-ty-moster (Dr Grant) and the hunt secretary. They returned thanks to Mr and Mrs Bickerton-Fisher for their hospitality, and with three hearty cheers and ' expressions of goodwill the afternoon was bought to a conclusion in a highly satisfactory manner.
