POKENO AFFAIRS.
(To the Editor). Sir, —In your esteemed paper some weeks ago, I read of several matters pertaining to this district, where deputations waited on a Minister, who happened to be here unveiling a monument, set up in memory of those who fell, and served, in the Great War. He promised, I believe, Ho use his influence with a view to helping- bring about some of the improvements the deputations prayed for; In addition, but apart from the above, \Vas the setting up of a hall (public) a,s recently the one situated hcio went “west,” one wintry night in smoke, since when there has been a bit of feeling shown between the two ends of the district (and His a pretty long one) as to which end the new- one, when started, shall be erected. Just recently it is said that the local branch of the Farmers’ Union were taking steps with a view to planting the new. one, when started, on the old site. This, lam thinking, is if the Farmers’ Union, Pokeno branch have the power without the ’.consent of others in the district, who don't happen to be members of that union. Perhaps some other reader of your esteemed paper could enlighten one on this point and so oblige.—l am, etc., INQUISITIVE.
