FRANKLIN LICENSING COMMITTEE.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting' of the Franklin Licensing Committee was held yesterday when there were present Messrs. E.W. Burton, S.IvI. (chairman). Dynes Fuitcn, E. T. Frost, C. K. Lawrie and the clerk (Sergt J. T. Cowan), Prior to the commencement or the business, Mr C. K. Lawrie extended a Irearly welcome to the chairman of the Licensing Bench, ft being the } first sitting of the Franklin Licens- > inp; Committee Mr Burton had the pleasure of presiding over. Messrs. Fulton and Frost endorsed the remarks of Mr. Lawrie. On behalf of the Bar Mr V). P. Enctesn also extended a welcome to the chairman of the Licensing Committee. He always felt keen admiration for him, and trusted the relationship between the Bench and the Bar would bo most* harmonious. Mr Burton returned thanks for the kind- welcome extended to him. Hi had had an opportunity of perusing the notice reports and was pleased to say there was nothing of a contentious- nature in the reports* Renewals of License, Renewals of licenses were granted as follows: Mi R. D. Dunn, Patumahoe Hotel. —lt was reported that this hotel was well conducted. The minor requirements of the Health Department had been carried out. The department also recommended that hot water v> as necessary in the bar. Mr Endean, for the applicant, said that there was a difficult}' regarding the supply of water and if a hot water service was installed the supply would be wasted and therefore would be prejudiced in the summer months.
Mr Fulton considered that hot water services in bars should, be established wherever at all practicable. Sergt. Cowan said a well water supply had been good until recently. There were four 400 gallon tan us at the hotel. The license was granted, Mr Endear. undertaking to get into touch with the owners and would submit a scheme of supply for the next quarterly meeting. Mr L. Dunn, Kentish Hotel, V) aiuku. —A well kept and well conducted hotel.' —Granted. . Mr. T. F, Hodges, Globe Hotel, Papakura. —The police report was good. The drainage was not satisfactory, but could not be dealt with effect! ve- , jv until a drainage system was infiialled by the local authority Granted. Mr Joe Ryan, Papakura Hotel, Papakara. —The police report was entirely satisfactory and the license was granted. Mr W. J. Taylor, Tuakam-Hote!.—A well conducted and clean hotel.-Re-pairs that had been recommended were being carried out. —Granted. The transfer of the license from Matthew Black to Patrick Mooney in connection with the Drury Hotel was granted. * Publican’s Licenses. Mr P. Mooney, Railway Hotel, Drury. -It was reported that the repairs to the stables recommended last year lad not been carried out, but 'that the carpenters were on the job at present. —Granted. Mr Endean guaranteed the work would be done. Mo- F. \V. Gardes, Pukekohe Hotel. - The t olice report was good. All recor.msnded repairs had been carried cut A well conducted hotel.— : Granted. Mr Gardes also made application to disperse with the stables at the rear of the hotel. He pointed out that -- the t: tables were pretty close to the accommodation portion of the house. There was ample accommodation at a stable - : :\ King Street. Mr Frbon considered that stables weio ; :.c l necessary at thb hotel, nor did he them necessary in places where there were stable proprietors.
