FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL.
ANNUAL MEETING. CR. MOTION RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN. The annual' meeting ci: the Franklin County Council was held on Wednesday, when there were present : Crs W. Claud Motion, Id. Wilcox, J. R. La wry, H. 0. Mellsop, G, W. Heald, John Dean, R. T. Reid, T. VV. Woods, E. C. Cuff, B. Charles, the clerk (Mr Alan P. Day), and the engineer (Mr J. F. McArthur)'. The clerk took the chair, and after reading the sections of the Act relating to annual meetings, called for nominations for the position of chairman.
Cr Reid moved, and Cr Wilcox seconded, that Cr Motion be reelected for the ensuing year. The mover and seconder eulogised the work of the chairman in the past. Several others added testimony and on being puLto the meeting the motion way carried bv acclamation.
Cr Motion returned thanks, slat ing -that he would, as in the past, do all in his power to further the interests of the County as a whole. He re.i'o; red to tbe* work accomplished during the pact war, and stated that owing to the present financial conditions, the Council would need to cm tail expenditure considerably until the forthcoming year’s rates were .and, available. On the motion ox* the chairman and Cr Woods, Cr H. Wilcox was unanimously re-elected deputy-chair-man.—Cr Wilcox returned thanks. As in past years, the whole Council was elected a Finance Committee. In future, it was decided to hold ordinary meetings on the second Thursday in each month, instead of the first Thursday.
