OBITUARY.
A FORMER PUKEKOHE RESIDENT. MR CHARLES BALLE. An old colonist. Mr Charles Balle, died suddenly early on Saturday morning at his residence, Mount Albert (Auckland), at the age of 79. Mr Balle arrived in New Zealand in the early sixties, and after a few years’ residence in the colony, adopted a seafaring life. For some time he was captain of the Maggie and Silver Cloud, which traded between Newcastle and Napier. Retiring from the sea about 34 years ago, he engaged in farming in Hawke’s Bay, and afterwards in New South Wales. Returning to New Zealand in 1902, he farmed at Morrinsville and Pukekohe, retiring three years ago. Mr Balle leaves a grown-up family— Messrs E. Balle (Waerenga), J. T. and B. Balle (Pukekohe), Adjutant Balle (Gisborne), J. Balle (Auckland) and Mrs W. A. Voice (Auckland.)
