GOLF NOTES.

(By “ Mid Iron.”) The opening- of the golf season in Pukekohe took place on Saturday afternoon last. The ceremonial and “first drive” was performed by Mrs Jss. Roulston. During the afternoon tea adjournment the retiring president (Mr W. Johns), acting on behalf of Mr Jas Roulston, president, w'ho was unable to be present, declared the season open. He reviewed the steady progress of the club, proving the increasing popularity of golf as a winter sport in this district. The following prizes were then presented:— Opening day mixed foursome, Mr Bockett and Mrs Duncan Roulston: Mr Russell’s prizes, Mr Brosnahan (men) and Mrs Roulston (ladies); bogey handicap, Mr Brosnahan; president’s prizes, Mr Duncan Rouiston (men) and Mrs Duncan Roulston (ladies); captain’s prize, Mr B. P. Hopkins; Brosnahan’® spoons, Mr W. P. Hopkins (men) and Mrs Campbell Smith (ladies). The opening day mixed match was won by Mr Chas. Bonner and Mrs Johns. The following are the results, net score in each case only being shown:—C. Bonner and Mrs Johns 34, Bockett and Mrs Rhodes 3(1, Townsend and Mrs Campbell Smith 36, Jones and Mrs Bayly 39, B. P. Hopkins and Miss Allen 40, Johns and Mrs Pattle 42, Duncan and Miss Wily 42, C. Clarke and Miss McKenzie 45, Brosnahan and Mrs D. Roulston 46, Petitt and Mrs Motion 46, Higginson and Miss Duncan 47.
