FRANKLIN A. AND P. SOCIETY.
WINTER SHOW, A meeting of ladies was held in the Society’s office, Manukau Road, on Wednesday, the 20th inst., to consider the question 'of catering at the Winter Show. Mr Geo. Armstrong was elected to the chair. About twenty ladies were either present, or sent word that they were prepared to act. After discussion, the ladies present decided that it was quite practical for them to do the catering, and o make a substantial profit to help the building fund.
Mi Jas. Roulston stated that the Society would pay for all raw material if the ladies undertook to do the work. At the same time, he was hoping that farmers and others would donate meat and vegetables. The ladies present decided to canvass their friends-, for meat, vegetables, cakes, etc., as they wished to show as good a profit as possible.
The following ladies were elected to the Management Committee : Mesdames Jas. Roulston, Duncan Roulston, Wyatt and F. Perkins. General Committee : Mesdames J. Roulston, Wyatt, Jas. Wylie, D. R. Hamilton, Ruebe, Waters Dune. Roulston, F. Perkins, G. Blake, H. Smart, Armstrong, W. T. Jones, H. Keith. It was decided to hire knives, forks and crockery. The ladies present undertook to supply table linen.
It was resolved, to hold the next meeting on Wednesday, 4th May. At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr Jas. Roulston, on behalf of the Socity, thanked the ladies present for their kind offer of help. This concluded the business.
