A STORM IN A TEACUP.

That electioneering in Pukekohe is waxing warm was made quite evident to the “ Times ” yesterday morning. About 9 a.m. a Councillor rang up the editorial office and heatedly wanted to know where the report of the special meeting of the Borough Council came from. He was told from the minutes of the meeting. The Councillor in question was very emphatic that this could not be so, and talked loquaciously about libel actions, etc. An inspection of the Council’s minute book proved that the Councillor was wrong and that the “Times ” was right. The nonplussed Councillor immediately stated that the minutes were wrong and should be altered. The “ Times’ ” representative then waited upon the Mayor, who stated that the minutes were correct and could not be altered. We have afc this stage withheld the name of the Councillor, but will have no hesitation in publishing it if necessity arises. We would also point out that the decorum necessary in a Councillor should have warned him to be very careful before he charged a newspaper with making false statements, The episode certainly does not add to the lustre of that particular Councillor’s actions. The habit of counting ten before speaking is one which the individual in question should carefully consider acquiring if he is to persist in holding a public, office.
