The traction engine owners had a narrow escape from serious loss a few days back as their chaffcutter, which was drawn up on the side of the road was discovered to be on fire bv Mr Cusack and Mr Blackmore, who happened to be passing, and they promptly got to work and managed to extinguish it before much harm was done.
• Mr and Mrs T. R. Thompson were welcomed back from their honeymoon bv a band of enthusiastic tin lcettlers. For a time night was made hideous by the din, but fortunately they were soon invited in and spent a most enjoyable evening. The youngcouple will be set up with empty kerosene tins for the rest of their lives, some of them somewhat the worse for the music they produced, but they are useful sort of things to have about the place. As she will be received in state, those who failed to see the coronation will have an opportunity of witnessing a very fine little pageant. Mrs Lkld!@, senior, the Queen’s mother, won the £1 note in the surprise envelope competition at the coronation and vqry generously donated it towards Queen Marion’s candidature, thus helping to svvell her d e.ughter’s majo r i tv.
