LADIES AND GENTLEMEN— In response to a very pressing request, representative of the Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce and also agreeable I am assured to a majority of the present Council, I have consented to nomination for the office of Mayor of Pukekohe. I had hoped to pass along quietly rather than to be ! brought into such prominence, but is is evident that a large number of those interested in the conduct of the Borough affairs have been looking for someone to take charge in whom they have confidence as to ability, integrity anp soundness of politics. The lot haslfallen upon myself./For many reasonsll wish it were otherwise, yet the urglncy of the request is such that I c%nnot treat it lightly and so have acceded.
