TRIBUTE FROM LOCAL BODIES. FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL AND TUAKAU TOWN BOARD. At the monthly meeting of the Franklin County Council on Thursday reference was made by Cr H. Wilcox to + he impending departure of the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, member for Franklin, to the Old Country in connection with the Imperial Conference. Cr. Wilcox said that the Premier had done excellent work for the country and while his presence in New Zealand e.t the present time would be most valuable, they recognised that there were matters of . greater importance requiring his presence at the Council of the Empire. He moved that the clerk convey to the Premier the Council’s heartiest good wishes for a pleasant voyage and a safe return to New Zealand. Cr Heald seconded and the motion was carried. TUAKAU’S TRIBUTE. At the Tuakau Town Board meeting the chairman (Mr Dynes Fulton) referred in glowing terms to the manner in which Mr Massey had carried on the affairs of the country. He was getting on in years now, and, he contended it would be appropriate to convey a resolution to him in connection with his forthcoming visit to attend the Premiers’ Conference. He moved that the clerk wri|e to Mr Massey, conveying the Board's appreciation of his services rendered to the Dominion and the Empire generally and the heartiest good wishes for a pleasant trip and a safe return. Mr. Fulton added that Mr Massey had seen more strenuous times than any other New Zealand Premier # and he had emerged successfully. He was sure he would uphold the traditions of the Empire at the Conference. Mr Sim seconded and endorsed Mr Fulton’s remarks. The motion was carried unanimously.
