THE WHITE CLIFFS RESERVE.
(To the Editor.) Sir —At the March meeting of the Franklin County Council I gave my reasons why a reserve should not be made alongside my property and the chairman said “The wishes of the people must be considered.” At their (the Council’s) last meeting on Thursday I handed in a petition against the reserve being made and the Council took no notice of it, the chairman saying: “You only got the people to sign it.” Now, sir, those 35 ratepayers (practically all in the district), I think, are entitled to the consideration of the Council as well as the Mauku branch of the Farmers’ Union. It was the wish of the people. at a public meeting at Waiau that a petition should be got up and yet their signatures are not respected.^—l am, etc. R.M. KING.
