—— . ■ EASTER TOURNAMENTS. PUKEKOHE’S SUCCESSES. A number of rinks from the Pukekohe Bowling Club participated in various tournaments held during the Easter holidays. Messrs F. Perkins, Jas. Roulston, Dune. Roulston. and G. H. Armstrong competed in the Auckland Bowling Centre’s executive fours, and succeeded in getting into the finals of their section, in which, unfortunately, they were defeated.
A first-year rink, comprising Messrs Chas. Bonner, jun.. H: Bromwicn, G. G. Littlejohn, and F. H. Hewitt, worthily represented the club in the first-year championship The team played well throughout, and contested some very exciting games. Five wins came their way, while the winning rink (Takapuna) triumphed in six games. The whole of the first-year teams were a very even lot, and right up till the last head of the final game, several teams, including Pukekohe, were in the “hunt,” but Takapuna won the game, and section.
At Cambridge, Messrs C. K. Lawrie, R. Fitness, Joe Adams, and -J. H. Keith, held up their end of the stick, and won five out of eight games.
In the championship pairs tourna.ment at Auckland, Messrs H. Gribble and C. R. Lusher, and H. Bockett participated. The former, with his brother from Howick, won his section, and succeeded in three games in the meeting of section winners. Messrs Bockett and Lusher were not quite as successful. AT HOME. During the holidays a pairs tourney was held on the local green, being won by Messrs C. Bonner, sen., and J. Blake, with Messrs W. Short and B. Clarke runners up.
