STRAND PICTURES.
TO-NIGHT (FRIDAY). “The Man from Snowy River” will be shown at the Strand to-night. The production of Banjo Paterson’s wellknown poem is one that will attract the eyes of the Screen world to Australia. Never has any Australian production been shown that has so admirably and convincingly presented the true Australian sentiment and life ; while some good pictures have been made under the Southern Cross, none have held the . fascination and grip that “The Man from Snowy River” has. ‘ It is Australian life with “nothing wild or woolly” in it. Every care was lavished on the filming of the many and varied scenes and it is certain that nothing better has come from Australian studios TO-MORROW NIGHT, “THE DEVIL’S PASS KEY.” The chief attraction at the Strand Theatre to-morrow night will be a magnificent feature entitled “The Devil’s Pass Key.” This picture has been procured at extra expense, but the management intend showing it at the usual prices. “The Devil’s Pass Key” had a great run in Auckland, and attracted considerable attention, being shown everywhere to crowded houses. Briefly, the story runs:— “A playwright, married a beautiful woman. He faced ruin because his plays did not reflect the sin of life. One day he read of a society woman’s liason with a young American right under the eyes of her, husband. “That will make a play,” f •’he cried. “This will give them the life they want.” &nd he wrote his play rnd produced it, and became famous in a night. At his side in the theatre box sat the woihan—his wife—the very woman whose indiscretion he had painted so vividly for all Paris to exult in. The wife saw her husband go out on to the stage, to bow his acknowledgments to the jeering plaudits that he thought praise. But what could she do ? Just come and see. The climax is great.
