Last year, when Mr. Massey was in Pukekohe and was taking deputations, the matter of making drastitc alterations to the overhead railway bridge was brought before him by Mr V. S. Roberts, of this town. The Chamber of Commerce also urged this matter on the department and the following letter from Mr. R. McVilly, General Manager of Railways, has just been received by the Chamber.
“ With reference to your representations to the Rt. Hon., the Prime Minister, who has passed same to me for reply, regarding the proposed alterations to the railway overbridge at East Steet,, Pukekohe, I have the honour to inform you that this work cannot be proceeded with until a telegraph pole in the vicinity has been removed. It is understood the shifting of this pole is contingent upon the removal of electric power wires belonging to the Borough Council, and that a decision in this connecton is being pressed for by the Post and Telegraph Department.”
