CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
MEETING LAST EVENING. Mr Webster, president of the Pukekohe Chamber of Commerce, occupied the chair at the usual monthly meeting of the Chamber last evening. There was a fair attendance of members. Correspondence The General Manager of Railways wrote re the widening of the East Street overbridge to the effect that the work cannot be proceeded with until the electric light pole belonging to the Borough Council has been removed. The Chamber decided to write to the Borough Council pointing out the position and asking that steps be taken to comply with the department’s requirements. A Waikato Chamber. The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce wrote asking that the Pukekohe Chamber join an association of chambers to be known as the Waikato Chamber, with headquarters at Hamilton and with quarterly meetings. The matter was discussed, many members being of the opinion that it would be more in the interests of the local Chamber if it, linked up with Auckland. It was finally decided to write to Hamilton stating that the Chamber was considering the matter.
