THE ENDLESS CHAIN PRAYER.

(To the Editor.) Sir,: —Might I use a little of your valuable space to publicly protest against the most abominable nuisance of modern times i.e., the endless chain prayer. The people of Pukekohe Lave been pestered with these senseless letters for the past few days. The great feature of these foolish missives is a covert threat of misfortune to those who break the blessed chain, and a hope of some great joy to those who comply with the request to waste time, paper and stamps to continue the folly. If religion is driven to stoop to such contemptible tricks for its continuance, then it does not say a great deal for our religious training. I hope, sir, that all your readers who receive such missives will at once recognise them as emanating from foolish persons and promptly ignore them and chance the “misfortune” which may follow.—l am, etc.,
