VERY NASTY.
The rising young landscape painter knew that he had an observer looking over his shoulder at the easel. He knew from the rustle of skirt? that the observer was a woman; yet he worked steadily on. Presently the observer spoke: “How beautiful!” she sighed. “What a perfect landscape!” “Ah, you flatter me!” said the artist modestly. “Compared with the original landscape, it is very pew stuff'.”
“It was the original I was speal ing about.”
